Groovin' Through Christmas features duet arrangements of familiar Christmas songs in popular styles. Students will love the laid-back, bluesy feel of Cool King Wenceslas, the boogie bass of Rockin' on the Housetop, and the Latin-style syncopated rhythms of One Horse Open Sleigh - Ole!

With a musical style to match each of the costumed characters in this collection, students will explore technical challenges such as dreamy slur patterns in The Tooth Fairy, sneaky pizzicato in The Sasquatch, and daring double stops in The Cowboy. Perfect for festivals or recitals, these thirteen fun-to-play pieces can stand alone or be played along with their magical piano accompaniments that help bring this party to life.

This progressive collection of studies and traditional tunes serves as a violin student's introduction to the world of fiddling. Each of the three leveled sections (elementary, late elementary, and early intermediate) contain eight original studies and four traditional tunes. The studies, each named after a place in Western Canada, are in fiddling style and are designed to prepare students for the technical challenges they will find in fiddle favorites.

For young pianists who wish to slip into the pages of a storybook, this collection of eleven elementary to early intermediate pieces provides the perfect escape. Enchanting pieces like Soaring and Dream Journey develop a sensitivity to melodic phrasing; bold pieces like Heroes of the Galaxy and Song of the Pirates add to the drama.

Students with a sense of adventure will revel in the eleven amusing solos in this album. The sneaky staccatos of Detectives, fluctuating meters of Time Travel, and hefty swinging rhythm of T. Rex Goes for a Stroll are ideal for elementary through early intermediate pianists.

These intermediate pieces correspond nicely with Fabers Piano Adventures level 3B or with Alfreds Premier Course level 4. For a lively piece, try Peace Country Hoedown. Spunky rhythms with a classic American folk-song sound definitely make this an audience favorite. The Sleeping Starfish captures a more beautiful and dreamy aura with thin-textured notes sustained high on the keyboard.

Bass-Time Beginners is a set of six short and easy pieces for the progressing beginner bassist. They offer simple musical and technical challenges, using a limited number of keys and positions to encourage confidence in the early years of study, also introducing simple harmonics and pizzicato effects to create a greater awareness of the possibilities of the double bass. The piano accompaniments are independent and supportive, written for the double bass teacher with some pianistic skills, creating music which is useful for both educational and concert use. Written in a popular and accessible style, Bass-Time Beginners is aimed at about Grade 2-4 level and the six pieces were composed in 2010 for Recital Music's BassLines Project to create new repertoire for beginners.

This endearing collection of twelve progressive early elementary pieces will delight young performers and audiences alike. The captivating titles and clever imagery encourage musicality and phrasing in beginning pianists. Each piece reinforces the concept of landmark notes (middle C, treble G, bass F, and others) to develop note-reading ability. Students will also explore concepts such as musical form in The Lonely Shepherd, new harmonic languages in The Haunted Harp, and different forms of notation in Jumping in the Mud.

So far, so good! is light-hearted and full of great rhythmic momentum which is ideal for the progressing bassist (c.Grade 4). A ragtime feel, with typical syncoptaions and energy, produces a fun piece which is effective as both a study and concert piece. The piano part supports the solo line throughout and this is a welcome addition to the repertoire for younger players. Enjoy!
